DHARAMSALA, June 13: The website of the Chinese gold mining company, allegedly responsible for illegal mining at a sacred mountain in Amchok in traditional Amdo province, has been hacked by a ‘hactivist’ group called #BlackHat, as Tibetan protesters in Amchok entered third week of their anti-mining protest, according to several online social media reports.
Zhengjue Mining, the Chinese mining company responsible for the illegal mining which caused significant environmental damage to the sacred Tibetan mountain in Amchok has its website, http://www.gszjky.com/htm/en/index.html#product hacked by the group following arrests, beatings and torture of peaceful Tibetan protesters.
The group declared their intentions on social media and defaced the website of the mining company afterwards with a message, “we are black hat, Bod rangzen, we do not forgive, we do not forget.”
The anonymous hacktivist group, formed by #Op_Tibet and #teamriddler and collectively called #BlackHat, received lots of appreciation from Tibetans and Tibet supporters on social media platforms such as facebook and twitter.
Though there is no official confirmation that the Chinese company is the one responsible for the illegal mining in Amchok, #Op_Tibet the code name of Anonymous Tibet hactivist group has previously owned responsibility for taking down a number of Chinese government sites during the Tibetan National Uprising anniversary earlier in March.
