Inter-School Under-10 Football Tournament held in Dharamsala to mark World Peace Day

DHARAMSALA, Sep 20: An inter-school under-10 football tournament was held over Sep 17-18 at TCV Day School in Mcleaod Ganj, Dharamsala to commemorate World Peace Day.

The tournament was organized by “Tseythang Gangla”, a group of Tibetan volunteers that has been conducting an after-school sports program at TCV Day School for the past several years.

The tournament saw boys and girls’ teams (each team comprising of five players under the age of ten) of Upper TCV School, TCV Gopalpur, Petoen Model School and TCV Day School competing against each other for two exciting days.

14393180_321873558167531_2009576165_oAfter two days of action-packed football matches played between the four schools, TCV Gopalpur won in both the boys and girls category. The runners up position in girls category went to TCV Day School and Upper TCV was the runners up in boys category.

Best player of the tournament (boys) went to Karma Tsering Wangchuk of Upper TCV and best player of the tournament (girls) went to Tenzin Wangmo of TCV Gopalpur. Both of them were awarded a cash prize of Rs 500/- each.

On top of trophies, the winning teams from both the categories were awarded a cash prize of Rs 4000/- each and the runners up teams were awarded a cash prize of Rs 2000/- each.

The Tibetan Parents Association (Mcleod Ganj) not only sponsored the cash prizes for the wining teams, but also sponsored and prepared lunch for the school children.

The trophies and the medals for the tournament were sponsored by Tibetan National Sports Association and the Dharamsala chapter of the Tibetan Women’s Association sponsored tea and snacks served during the tournament.
