Sikyong to address Sino-Tibetan conference in Germany
DHARAMSALA, AUG 26: The elected head of the Tibetan people, Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay is on a three-day visit to Germany, where among others, he will attend a Sino-Tibetan conference with Chinese intellectuals, activists, writers, Sinologists from Europe, US, Asia and Australia.
The spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who is on a four-day public talk and teachings in Hamburg, Germany, will also attend the conference to be held on Aug 27, according to the exile Tibetan administration Tibet.net website Aug 26.
Apart from Sikyong Sangay who will deliver the key note address on “The Middle Way Approach – The Path Forward” on the opening day of the two-day Sino-Tibetan Conference, Kalon Dicki Chhoyang of the Department of Information & International Relations, and Special Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Europe, Mr Kelsang Gyaltsen, will also speak at the conference.
The participants will exchange views and assess the past and current Sino-Tibetan affairs, human rights situation in Tibet and how to strengthen communication with intellectuals for the promotion of the Middle Way Approach.
Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay will also join His Holiness for celebrations marking the 35th and 25th anniversaries of the Tibetan community in Germany and the Tibet Initiative Deutschland respectively in Hamburg on Aug 26.
Upon his arrival in Germany on Aug 25, Sikyong Sangay held a press conference with six key journalists in Hamburg, Germany where he briefed them about the exile Tibetan aministration’s plan to launch European awareness campaign of the Middle Way Approach.
Sikyong Sangay then met with Mr Christoph Strässer, Human Rights Commissioner of the German Federal Government. Mr Strässer then took part in a panel discussion on China’s growing influence.
Sikyong also addressed the members of the Tibetan Community in Germany and others who had come from across Europe to get a glimpse of their spiritual leader and listen to his teachings in Hamburg, Germany.
