Tibet United FC Bern wins 12th Euro Tibet Cup

DHARAMSALA, 25 July: Tibet United FC Bern from Swiss has clinched this year’s Euro Tibet Cup after beating Yak Boyz from Paris in the final match of the tournament played on Saturday.

Tibet United FC Bern won the final match of the tournament which is open to all Tibetans living in European countries with a scoreline of 2-1 in their favour.

Tibet United FC Bern, the champions of the 12th edition of the Euro Tibet Cup took home a cash prize of € 3,013  along with the Cup. Yak Boyz, the runners-up were awarded a cash prize of € 1,013.

A total of 15 teams from Belgium, France and Swiss participated in this year’s tournament held from the 18th – the 23th of July in Deurne nearby Antwerpen Belgium.

Having scored 8 goals in the tournament, Tenzin Rabgye from Pundha United FC was awarded the golden boot.

Euro Tibet Cup, the biggest sporting event for the Tibetan Community in Europe is being organised by the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress Belgium since 2008.

President of the organisation Thupten Phelgye said, “The tournament was a great success. We’re very grateful to all the players for showing the great spirit of sportsmanship this year, and the amazing support from many people in Antwerpen and other places made our job easier”.

Thupten Phelgye, the President of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress Belgium has described the tournament as “a great success”.
