Dalai Lama, Tibetan parliament condoles demise of Queen Elizabeth II
DHARAMSALA, 9 Sept: The Tibetan spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has expressed deep sadness and offered his heartfelt condolences to His Majesty, the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom on the demise of Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch.
The Dalai Lama recalled “I remember seeing photographs of her coronation in magazines when I was young in Tibet” in a missive addressed to her son His Majesty Charles III.
Paying tribute, he said, “Her reign, as Britain’s longest-serving monarch, represented celebration, inspiration and a reassuring sense of continuity for so many people alive today.”
“Your mother lived a meaningful life with dignity, grace, a strong sense of service and a warm heart, qualities we all should treasure,” the Tibetan Nobel laureate wrote.
The Dalai Lama concluded by “offering his prayers and good wishes.”
The Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile(TPIE) has extended his heartfelt condolences to all members of the Royal Family condolences on behalf of all the Tibetans worldwide.
“On such a monumental loss, the thoughts and prayers of all the Tibetan people around the world are with the people of the United Kingdom and the commonwealth in this hour of grief.”
The Speaker has further said that the Queen “will be remembered as one of the strongest and longest reigning monarchs in modern history. Her legacy will live on in history”, and that her loss is deeply felt by people around the world.
“Her grace, dignity, and dedication will be looked upon by the generations. May Almighty give strength to the grieving family during this difficult time. May her soul rest in peace.”
The Royal Family announced that Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch died at Balmoral Castle at the age of 96 in Scotland on Thursday.
“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” the Royal Family tweeted.
As her reign of 70 years came to an end with her passage, it also brought an end to the longest reign in the history of the United Kingdom, and one of the longest reigns by any head of state.
