Tibetan NGOs to expose Tibetans vilifying His Holiness, resort to legal measures

DHARAMSALA, Dec 19: A group of seven Tibetan NGOs in Dharamsala condemned Tibetans making baseless denigrations and distorted claims to vilify His Holiness the Dalai Lama earlier today at a joint press conference held at the headquarter of Tibetan United Society in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala.
The seven Tibetan NGOs, Tibetan United Society, Central Committee of the Dhotoe Cholkha Welfare Society, Tibetan People’s Movement for Middle Way, Central Executive Committee of Dhomay, Tibetan Shopkeeper Welfare Society, U-Tsang Cholkha Association and Central Executive of Ngari Chithun Association jointly organized the press conference.
“Stray individual Tibetans making baseless denigrations and distorted claims vilifying His Holiness the Dalai Lama should be exposed and pressed with legal charges,” the group said.
The group further described the act as a show of ingratitude and urged Tibetans to shoulder their responsibility and take stand as their reach is bound by geographical limitations.
“His Holiness the Dalai Lama is highly respected by the people and leaders across the world, but several ungrateful Tibetans resort to baselessly vilify him to an extent greater than the communist Chinese regime. We should identify them and expose them as we are forever grateful to His Holiness and we want to remain under his protection even if they don’t want to. If the need be, we will reach out to the CTA, general public, NGOs and religious institutions to urge them to take a firm stand on those defaming His Holiness,” executive member of U-Tsang Cholkha Association and member of Tibetan Parliament, Dawa Tsering said responding to queries from the reporters.
The group said they have identified several individuals vilifying His Holiness the Dalai Lama and read out their names. The list include Dorjee Tashi and Wangdue Tsering from New York, Dechen Wangmo from Minnesota, Thupten from Australia, Pema Gyaltsen from Taiwan and Ngawang Dhondhen from Delhi.
“It pains me to death to see a fellow Tibetan baselessly vilify His Holiness, it only heartens our enemy (China). Though we can’t substantiate their links with China, we assume that they have connections,” Dawa Tsering said responding to a question from another reporter who asked on the comparison between the Tibetans defaming His Holiness and the Chinese who occupied our country and displaced us.
