Nyima from Bengaluru wins inaugural ‘Mr Tibet 2017’ competition

DHARAMSALA, Oct 29: Nyima, a third year law student from CMR Law College, Bengaluru was crowned Yak Events first ever Tibetan male beauty pageant, ‘Mr Tibet 2017’ at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) in Dharamsala.

Nyima, 24 from Bengaluru was declared winner of the first ever male beauty pageant Mr Tibet 2017 amid thunderous cheers and applause on Saturday night at the TIPA ground.

So, I accept this title on behalf of all the finalists and applicants of the first ever Tibetan male beauty pageant, ‘Mr Tibet 2017’. I want to thank the organizer for their hard work and dedication in organizing this event and the public for their support,” Nyima said in his acceptance speech.

Nyima edged out four other contestants; Tsering Choephel from Bengaluru, Karma Thutop from Bir, Tenzin Londen from Hunsur Rabgyaling Tibetan settlement and Lobsang Choephel from Dharamsala to win the title of ‘Mr Tibet 2017’ and the prize money of one lakh and ten thousand rupees.

Tsering Choephel from Bangalore and Lobsang Choephel from Dharamsala were declared first and second runners-up and were awarded seventy thousand and forty thousand rupees respectively as prize money.

Lobsang Choephel, the second runners-up was also adjudged ‘Mr Photogenic”.

‘Mr. Tibet 2017’, an undertaking of Yak Events was held over October 25-28 at TIPA. Yak Events was set up by Tenzin Tashi, a DJ and event organizer by profession on July 14, 2013 and is affiliated to the Department of Commercials, Government of India.
