CHINA’S CARTOGRAPHIC MANIPULATION OF
TIBET IS ‘COLONIALISM OF PERCEPTION’

New Delhi, Paris, New York & Dharamshala – 28 August 2023 Many international experts on
China and Tibet are of the opinion that President Xi Jinping’s obsession with security and to present
himself as the new Mao Zedong is resulting into cultural genocide and total annihilation of the national
personality of China’s colonies like Tibet, East Turkistan (Xinjiang) and Southern Mongolia. Analyzing the
causes and impact of dividing occupied Tibet in 1965 into many pieces at an international webinar titled
“China’s Cartographic Colonialism in Tibet” experts from USA, Europe, Tibet and India expressed
concern that China’s Communist Party (CCP) and its leaders are religiously focused at washing out
Tibet’s history by rewriting and propagating a manufactured version that suits Chinese expansionism.

Focus less on defining what Tibet is based on political boundary: Tsering Wangyal Shawa

DHARAMSALA, 7 Aug: Tsering Wangyal Shawa, the special guest at the inauguration of the Tibet Museum’s temporary exhibition titled “Mapping Tibet” said that we should concentrate less on defining what Tibet is based on the political boundary and focus more on collecting, creating, standardising, and understanding cultural and geographical feature names in the Tibetan language so that we can own our place.

CTA’s International Tibet Youth Forum begins, disproportionate participants from India and abroad spark online discussion

DHARAMSALA, 18 July: A three-day International Tibet Youth Forum, titled “International Tibet Youth Forum: Empowering Voices and Inspiring Action for Tibet’s Future” organised by the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) of Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) opened today at the D’Polo Resort near here.
