Tibetan Parliament Elects New Chief Justice Commissioner, Justice Commissioners, and Auditor General

DHARAMSALA, 29 March: In a historic first, the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile (TPiE) elected Yeshi Wangmo as the new Chief Justice Commissioner(CJC) of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission (TSJC), making her the first woman to hold the post of the highest of the judicial organ of the Tibetan government-in-exile, officially known as the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).

SFT-France Serves Legal Notice to Guimet Museum Over Tibet Name Erasure after 25 Weeks of Protest

DHARAMSALA 28 March: After a series of protests against the Guimet Museum for erasing the name “Tibet” in favour of colonial denominations such as the  “Himalayan World” failed to elicit any meaningful response from the museum, Students for a Free Tibet-France(SFT) has served a legal notice to the Museum and the French Minister of Culture, demanding the museum reinstate Tibet in its rightful place in their collections of Tibetan art.

China introduces new ‘Ethnic Unity Law’ to tighten control over its occupied regions

DHARAMSALA 19 March: The International Campaign for Tibet (ICT), in its latest report, says China’s new “ethnic unity law,” introduced during the ‘Two Sessions’—the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) annual political meetings in Beijing—might lead to further erosion of the rights of Tibetans in occupied Tibet.
