His Holiness graces 10th anniversary celebrations of Mewoen Petoen School
DHARAMSALA, Oct 13: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Oct 10th graced the 10th founding anniversary of Mewoen Petoen School located near the head quarters of Central Tibetan Administration at Gangchen Kyishong.
Prominent Tibetan dignitaries that attended the school’s anniversary celebrations include Special Guest, Kalon Trisur (former Prime Minister) Professor Samdong Rinpoche, Speaker Penpa Tsering, education Kalon Ngodup Tsering, members of Kashag and senior members of the Tibetan administration among others.
Addressing the gathering, His Holiness highlighted the significance and richness of the Tibetan language, its utility in comprehending the scientific and philosophical aspects of Tibetan Buddhism and stated that Tibetans should be proud of the Tibetan script and language.
His Holiness also stressed the importance of acquiring both traditional and modern education.
“It has become evident that modern education alone cannot create a peaceful society as it fails to address the endless problems created by human beings. Though there has been much intellectual growth through modern education, wisdom that comes through traditional education is also important to create a blissful society.”
Students of the school showcased Tibetan dialectical skills and presented cultural performances for His Holiness during the event.
