DHARAMSALA, Nov 2: Phenpo and Pema Kopa People’s Association jointly offered long life prayers (Tenshug) to His Holiness the Dalai Lama today at Tsuglag-khang, the main temple in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala.
Kyabje Namkha Drimey Rinpoche from Rigon Thupten Mendrol Ling Monastery in Orrisa Tibetan settlement led the prayer ceremony offered collectively by the two associations on behalf of their people residing in and outside Tibet.
Around 200 and 1300 people from Phenpo and Pema Kopa respectively attended the ceremony apart from dignitaries from the Tibetan administration and hundreds of Tibetan monks, nuns and lay people.
Following the prayer ceremony, the Dalai Lama briefly addressed the congregation and thanked the members of the participating groups for their unwavering dedication.
The Tibetan spiritual leader further gave assurance that he will live for at least 100 years.
“Although I have dreams indicating that I will live for 113 years and there are omens and prophecies made by treasure revealers indicating that I will live for 113 years, I can assure you that I will live for at least 100 years to continue my service for the well being of all sentient beings,” the Dalai Lama declared.
“As I am offered Tenshug and appealed to live a long life, I urge and plead to you all to be a good follower of Buddha dharma. Conquer your mind to achieve peace and to spread peace and harmony,” His Holiness concluded.
