DHARAMSALA, 26 March: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has said that “there would be relaxation in curfew from 7 AM to 1 PM daily throughout the State.”
Himachal Pradesh’s Information and Public Relations stated in a report that the changes were made “to facilitate the people and to ensure minimum inconvenience to them.”
The Chief Minister was quoted as saying in the report that “the relaxation in this curfew was only for facilitating the people to purchase daily needs items and not for commuting from one place to other places un-necessarily, and further “urged the people to come out of their homes only in the emergent situation as this curfew has been imposed for their safety.”
Jai Ram Thakur has further called on the “people of the State to purchase the essential commodities from the shops nearer to their homes by maintaining appropriate social distancing as it is the proper way to break the chain of coronavirus”.
Himachal Pradesh was placed under curfew since Tuesday when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the 21-day nationwide lockdown.
The Chief Minister has made the changes while presiding over a video conference with all the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of the state from Shimla today to take stock of the situation in wake of curfew in the State due to outbreak of Corona epidemic. Earlier the daily cuefew relax time in the State was from 8-11 am.
According to the report, as many as 2257 people have been kept under surveillance in Himachal, of the lot 636 have completed 28 days of surveillance period.
Meanwhile, 34 persons who were tested today for COVID-19 were found negative. The Chief Minister has stated in the report that so far, 133 persons have been investigated in the State for coronavirus.
According to worldometers.com, there are 491,120 COVID-19 cases across the world which have resulted in 22,165 deaths while 118,059 of those infected have recovered.
India Today reported that Coronavirus cases in India have crossed the 650-mark on Thursday and recorded four more deaths, taking the toll to 17.
So far Himachal has reported two COVID-19 positive cases and one death.
