China trying to build infrastructure, running surveillance activities: CM says after border visit
DHARAMSALA, 2 June: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has said that China is boosting its infrastructure in the state’s border area that aligns with Tibet.
“It is true that China is trying to strengthen its infrastructure in our border area that aligns with Tibet, we will inform the Centre about it,” the Chief Minister has stated on Monday after a visit to Samdo in Lahaul-Spiti district of the state that borders Tibet.
“They (China) have also started some surveillance activities via road at a height higher than ours,” he added.
The visit came after reports of China’s construction activities, including those of roads near the border.
During his visit, he has reportedly interacted with the officers of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Dogra Scouts, and the 15th Bihar Regiment at the army helipad Samdo in Lahaul-Spiti.
Kuldeep Singh Rathore, Himachal’s Congress President has earlier raised the issue of “China building concrete houses and roads along the state border” while calling out the government for its ‘inaction,’ the republicworld.com reported.
