CTA’s maiden Permanent Strategy Committee meeting underway in Dharamsala

DHARAMSALA, 17 Nov: A three-day Permanent Strategy Committee meeting of the Central Tibetan Administration(CTA) began on Tuesday here “to deliberate on the programs and objectives of the new committee.” 

The new Permanent Strategy Committee is currently holding its first meeting from 16 -18 November at Imperial Heights Inn, Dharamshala to deliberate on the programs and objectives of the new committee, reports Tibet.net, the official webpage of the CTA.

The meeting is being presided over by the CTA president Penpa Tsering and attended by all the committee members.

“This is the first meeting of the committee in which all the members and advisors are in attendance,” the report added.

Additionally, the report noted that Ngawa Tsegyam, the Secretary from the Gaden Phodrang office, is also attending the meeting on special invitation.

Earlier in August, the 16th Kashag(Cabinet) led by President Tsering dissolved the CTA’s Task Force on Sino-Tibetan negotiation and instead set up the Permanent Strategy Committee to replace it.

Apart from the CTA President, others in the committee include former envoy of His Holiness the Dalai Lama Kelsang Gyaltsen along with former CTA Ministers Dongchung Ngodup and Tempa Tsering as advisors and Secretaries of the CTA’s Department of Security, Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), Tibet Policy Institute (TPI)and Kashag’s Political Secretary.
