Kyabgon Sakya Gongma Trichen issues astatement in defence of Dalai Lama’s viral video

It is with immense sadness that I have recently seen the impeccable character of His Holiness the Dalai Lama being the subject of controversy across the mainstream media.
Throughout the many decades of his life, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has done nothing but serve humanity. He has been a bastion of compassion, loving kindness and bodhicitta, serving not only as an unfailing guide and protector to the Tibetan people but also as an indomitable inspiration to uncountable people all over the world.
His Holiness has always been a paragon of transparency and morality, thoroughly impeccable in his thought, speech and conduct. As a Bodhisattva, his every action stems from great kindness, whatever form it may take. At times his behaviour may take on the expression of Tibetan culture and seem strange to non-Tibetans, making it difficult for
them to appreciate its substance.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama is my ultimate Guru, and I am forever indebted to him, not only for the many precious teachings that I have gratefully received from him but also for his unfailing generosity and for the remarkable example that he sets of courage and steadfastness in facing the many difficulties that are inherent to his position as a religious leader.
I pray that all may adopt and maintain pure vision in their devotion to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and I pray that he may continue to bless us with his presence for many years to come.
