Tibet in the Year of the Tiger

The story is about a slogan, “America is a Paper Tiger”. We students had to march often in streets waving red flags and shouting slogans like “We support the people of Chaoxian, Imperialist America is a paper tiger, Victory to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA)” and so on. At that time, we had no idea what ‘Chaoxian’ (Korea in Chinese) meant and where America was in the world either. But we knew the tiger, a symbol of power we often see in Tibetan prayer flags. What the Chinese meant was that America is like a Tiger drawn on a piece of paper that looks fearful – but it is just an image that has no real strength.

Tibetans now detained, subjected to ‘re-education’ after China demolished two giant Buddha statues in Drango: TCHRD

DHARAMSALA, 24 Feb: Following the demolition of two giant Buddha statues in Drango in the traditional Tibetan province of Kham, the Chinese authorities have now reportedly launched a sweeping crackdown on both lay and monastic communities in an attempt to stop any information about the crackdown from being shared online, reports Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy(TCHRD), a Dharamsala-based Tibetan advocacy group.

PRESIDENT XI JINPING’S CLAIMS OVER TIBET EXPOSE HIS GUILT CONSCIENCE FOR COLONIAL OCCUPATION

President Xi Jinping’s over enthusiasm in insisting that “Tibet has been always a part of China” and his aggressive expectation from the world community to accept China’s similar claims over Xinjiang, South Mongolia and other occupied countries has exposed the guilt conscience of China over its colonial rule over these countries. Unchallenged control over the vast geographic areas and huge natural resources of these colonies has only emboldened and encouraged present day China to behave like a bully with the world community. Hence it is in the interest of the world peace and world order that the international community join hands to support these colonized nations to regain their independence from China’s illegal rule. These common points emerged from an international webinar “Tibet Was Never a Part of China”, organized to mark the 109th anniversary of the ‘Proclamation of Independence of Tibet’ by the 13th Dalai Lama of Tibet on 13th Feb 1913.
