DHARAMSALA 4 April: The Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) declared that Kham Driru in occupied Tibet has “turned into one of the most tightly-controlled regions in Tibet” with harsh security clampdown, amounting to crimes against humanity, The TCHRD declared in its latest special report on Kham Driru.

DHARAMSALA 1 April: “Freedom Trail,” a six-day trekking programme retracing the historic route taken by the Dalai Lama during his escape to India on March 31 1959, following the Chinese occupation of Tibet, commenced in Tawang on 31 March.

DHARAMSALA, 29 March: In a historic first, the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile (TPiE) elected Yeshi Wangmo as the new Chief Justice Commissioner(CJC) of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission (TSJC), making her the first woman to hold the post of the highest of the judicial organ of the Tibetan government-in-exile, officially known as the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).

DHARAMSALA, 29 March: China has made sweeping claims in its latest white paper on Tibet, declaring that “all-round and historic progress” has been made in human rights in Tibet, accusing the West of “misunderstandings” and “prejudices” about human rights conditions in Tibet. 

DHARAMSALA, 26 March: Tibetan Youth from around the world will collectively offer a long-life prayer offering (Tenshug) to His Holiness the Dalai Lama later this year in September, Tibetan Youth Tenshug(TYT) has announced.

DHARAMSALA 25 March: From operating at a loss to generating surplus revenue, Men-Tsee-Khang, the Tibetan Medical and Astro. Institute, has substantially reduced its outstanding payment from 330 million Indian rupees to 70 million Indian rupees.

DHARAMSALA 19 March: The International Campaign for Tibet (ICT), in its latest report, says China’s new “ethnic unity law,” introduced during the ‘Two Sessions’—the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) annual political meetings in Beijing—might lead to further erosion of the rights of Tibetans in occupied Tibet.

DHARAMSALA 12 March: Tibetans and supporters of the Tibetan cause took out a protest march in Mcleodganj today to commemorate the 66th Tibetan women’s uprising day and to pay homage to the Tibetan women, who rose against the Chinese occupation of Tibet on March 12, 1959, two days after the Tibetan National uprising day.
