DHARAMSALA, Nov 11: Lobsang Tenpa and Lobsang Gyatso, both monks of Kirti monastery in Amdo Province’s Ngaba area, who carried out lone protests on separate dates, have been sentenced to two and three years in prison respectively.

DHARAMSALA, Nov 6: A group of Tibetan students on Nov 1 protested against the Chinese policy of making Chinese language rather than Tibetan language as the medium of instruction in Tibetan nomadic schools in Dzoege and neighbouring counties in Amdo’s Ngaba Prefecture (now incorporated into Sichuan Province).

DHRAMSALA, Nov 5: Three Tibetans have been sentenced to up to three years in prison on alleged ‘murder charge’ in Meruma, Ngaba County in Amdo Province (incorporated into present day Sichuan) in connection with a Tibetan man’s self-immolation last year in the same county, Gu-Chu-Sum Movement of Tibet, a Dharamsala-based Tibetan ex-political prisoners’ organization made the announcement at a press conference held here today.

DHARAMSALA, Sep 30: Three Tibetan girls were killed and another seriously injured after they were hit by a car on Sep 25 in Chaksam County in Kardze Prefecture in eastern Tibet.

DHARAMSALA, Sep 23: Lhamo Tashi, 22 set himself on fire in front of a police station in Tsoe City in Kanlho Prefecture in the traditional Tibetan Province of Amdo on Sep 17, coinciding with the first day of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s three-day India visit. Lhamo Tashi died at the protest site after shouting slogans.

DHARAMSALA, Sep 10: A Chinese court in Lanzhuo, the capital of Gansu Province has sentenced a senior Tibetan monk, who was detained for the fourth time in 2011 following his return to Tibet after attending Kalachakra teachings in India, to five years’ imprisonment for engaging in “splittist activities”.
