CTA marks 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi
DHARAMSALA, 3 Oct: The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) offered its profound tribute on the 154th birth anniversary of India’s father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
A brief ceremony was held at the CTA headquarters here to offer floral tributes. The ceremony was attended by the Officiating President of the CTA, Education Minister Tharlam Dolma Changra, Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, Kalons (Ministers), Secretaries, and senior officials of the CTA.
The officiating president offered her profound respect for Gandhi and said, “Gandhi’s path of nonviolence and truth sets a wonderful example for us Tibetans on how to regain our country through non-violence.”
She further declared that his legacy of nonviolence is more relevant than ever now and added that that’s why His Holiness the Dalai Lama appreciates Gandhi’s message of non-violence and truth.
Today also marks the International Day of Nonviolence, a day dedicated by the United Nations since 15 June 2007 to celebrate Gandhi’s invaluable contribution to the world.
