CTA President meets Norwegian parliamentarians on his second leg of Europe visit
DHARAMSALA, 3 May: The President of the Central Tibetan Administration(CTA) who is on an official visit to four European countries has “met and engaged with Norwegian parliamentarians from different political parties.”
President Penpa Tsering apprised the parliamentarians of the current situation inside Tibet, including the ongoing implementation of state-run colonial boarding schools as he was hosted at the Norwegian Parliament, reports Tibet.net, the CTA’s official website.
According to the report, upon his arrival from the UK, President Tsering was hosted at the Norwegian parliament.
After meeting and engaging with Norwegian parliamentarians from different political parties- Norwegian Green Party parliamentarian Rasmus Hansson, Member of the Standing Committee on Business and Industry, Conservative Party parliamentarian Ingjerd Schou, Member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence and Liberal Party Parliamentarian Ola Elvestuen, Member of the Standing Committee of Energy and Environment- and has extended a “standing invitation to the parliamentarians to visit Dharamshala,” the headquarters of the CTA, commonly referred to as the Tibetan government in exile.
From Norway, the political head of the Tibetan people will head to Denmark and then to Germany, the final destination of his official visit to four European countries.
His engagement in the UK saw him hold two important speaking engagements. The first one was at the UK Parliament on 25 April, hosted by the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Tibet and the second was at the All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Freedom of Religion and Belief respectively.
From the UK, he briefly visited Scotland and met with Honourable Councillor David Cameron, Lord Provost of Aberdeen City, at the City Chambers and members of the local Tibetan Support Groups on 28 April.
He then returned to the UK to interact with Tibetan youth in and around London on 29 April.
The CTA President left Dharamsala late last month for his official visit to the United Kingdom, Norway, Denmark and Germany, from 21 April to 9 May 2023 to meet parliamentarians, members of Tibet Support Groups and Tibetan communities in the four European Countries.
