Dalai Lama Extends Warm Birthday Greetings to PM Modi, Praises India’s Global Role

DHARAMSALA, 18 Sept: The Tibetan spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, has extended heartfelt greetings and best wishes to India’s Prime Minister as he turns 73, hoping for many joyful years ahead for the esteemed leader.

In a missive addressed to Prime Minister Modi, the Dalai Lama commended India’s successful presidency of the G20, culminating in a summit focused on the theme ‘Vasudhaiv Kutambakam—One Earth, One Family, One Future’.

The Dalai Lama expressed a deep resonance with this theme and said “I firmly believe in the oneness of humanity and encourage other people to appreciate its importance whenever I can.” 

The Dalai Lama went on to say that as the longest-staying guest in India, “I found it a great privilege and source of satisfaction to witness India’s growing stature on the international stage, reflected in events such as the G20 summit.”

“That meeting also provided a great opportunity to highlight the interdependence of our shared world.”

Furthermore, the Dalai Lam emphasised India’s rich traditions of ahimsa (non-violence) and karuna (compassion), which have persisted for over a thousand years, serving as a beacon for the world. 

The octogenarian underscored India’s burgeoning scientific and technological advancements, adding that it enhances its emerging leadership role.

Expressing heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Tibetan people, the Dalai Lama thanked the Indian government and its people for their unparalleled hospitality and generous assistance over the past 64 years.

In conclusion, the Dalai Lama offered his prayers and best wishes to Prime Minister Modi for continued good health and success in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the Indian populace. 

He urged the Prime Minister to persevere in contributing to the creation of a more compassionate, peaceful world.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 73 on Sunday, and a flood of warm wishes and praises flowed in from leaders worldwide, highlighting his significant influence and leadership in the global arena.
