DHARAMSALA, 6 May: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama has wished King Charles III a long life on the auspicious occasion of his coronation.

“May Your Majesty live long and the peoples of the United Kingdom enjoy happiness and prosperity,” the Dalai Lama has said in a missive addressed to King Charles III to offer his warm congratulations.

The Octogenarian Tibetan leader has also described it as a privilege to enjoy the King’s friendship for many years and added “I am confident that you will continue to accomplish this great responsibility with kindness and affection, dedicated to the service of others.”

The Tibetan Nobel Laureate has added in his statement that “Today, the international community is going through very challenging times,” and called for “concerted efforts to achieve a more compassionate, peaceful world by resolving problems like the gap between rich and poor and protecting the natural environment of this planet that is our only home, in the spirit of the oneness of humanity.”

The Dalai Lama concluded by wishing King Charles “every success in meeting the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the British people and contributing to the creation of a more peaceful world, free of violent conflict.”

The coronation of Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as king and queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms is taking place today at Westminster Abbey.
