Three Tibetan youth hold 10 km full length prostration campaign in Bengaluru

DHARAMSALA, August 1: Three Tibetan youth from Bengaluru has staged a full length prostration campaign protesting China’s demolition of Larung Gar, the biggest Tibetan Buddhist institute in the world.

Two Tibetan college students, Jigmey Woeser and Lungrik Doejee along with Tsultrim Dorjee, founder of Tibetan Cancer Society and Program Officer of Indian Cancer Aid Society conducted full length prostration campaign from Tibetan Youth Hostel in Bengaluru to Brigade Road, the city’s commercial hub on July 31, urging world leaders to help in stopping the ongoing demolition of residences of the monks and nuns at Larung Gar Buddhist Institute in eastern Tibet by the Chinese government.

Representing the three province of Tibet, the three Tibetan youth started their campaign from Tibetan Youth hostel at 10:45 am and concluded the 10 kilometers stretch of full length Prostration at 4 pm at Brigade Road.

“Although we informed several media groups about our campaign, non turned up as it was Sunday. Some residents of the city mistook us for beggars while others thought we were being punished as they were unaccustomed to prostrations.  But others from our group educated them about our campaign and cause,” Tsultrim Dorjee, one of the campaigner told Tibet Express.

“The only problem we had was we started developing head pain as we progressed,” he added, when enquired by Tibet Express after the campaign was successfully concluded.
