DHARAMSALA, 14 July: The Tibetan Community of France has announced a silent march to protest against the murder of a Tibetan youth who works at a Chinese-owned restaurant at Saint–Léonard in northern France.
“To mourn the death of Tsultrim who was fatally stabbed by Chinese in the Chinese-owned restaurant at Saint–Léonard, we will hold a silent protest from Place de la Bastille to République in France on Sunday,” the Tibetan Community of France has announced on Thursday.
The organisers have urged Tibetans in France to participate in the nearly 2-km long silent march from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm.
According to media reports, the Tibetan youth in his 30s has died of a “wound on the left flank” caused by “by knife, or a sharp object” and that, his body was found in the parking lot of the restaurant, covered with a tarpaulin at 8:15 p.m.(local time) on Monday.
Police have recovered a knife and taken four suspects into custody. Further investigations are on.
After the Tibetan youth was fatally stabbed, many Tibetans working at the Saint–Léonard restaurant and many other Chinese-owned restaurants across France have quit their job in a protest demanding justice.
Additionally, Tibetans in France also staged a sit-in protest reciting prayers before the restaurant.
