Wuhan researcher says China created COVID-19 as a ‘bioweapon’

DHARAMSALA, 29 June: A Chinese researcher from the Wuhan Institute of Virology has said that China deliberately engineered the coronavirus virus as a “Bioweapon” as the world still recovers from the impacts of the pandemic that killed nearly 7 million people across the world.
Researcher Chao Shao from the infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology made the claim this week in an interview conducted by Chinese-born human rights activist and author Jennifer Zeng.
Shao has told Zeng that the virus was deliberately engineered by China as a “bioweapon,” and that his colleagues were tasked with identifying the most effective strain for spreading among various species, including people, reports the Jerusalem Post.
Shao further disclosed in the interview that another researcher named Shan Chao has admitted to being provided with four coronavirus strains by a superior.
The report adds that Shan Chao was instructed to test these strains and determine which one had the greatest potential to infect multiple species, emphasising human infectivity.
Additionally, he said that, in April 2020, he was deployed in East Turkestan “to assess the health status of Uyghur prisoners held in the re-education camps, ostensibly to expedite their release.”
Chao Shao has stated that his mission in East Turkistan “was either to facilitate the virus’s spread or to study its effects on humans.”
The latest declassified document by the US government on the origin of Covid-19 did not confirm whether the virus resulted from human creation or the animal virus that jumped to humans.
According to a declassified report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, “All agencies continue to assess that both a natural and laboratory-associated origin remain plausible hypotheses to explain the first human infection” and it further reported that “Most agencies assess that SARS-CoV-2 was not laboratory-adapted; some are unable to make a determination. All intelligence community agencies assess that SARS-CoV-2 was not developed as a biological weapon,”
It added that “We continue to have no indication that the WIV’s pre-pandemic research holdings included SARS-CoV-2 or a close progenitor, nor any direct evidence that a specific research-related incident occurred involving WIV personnel before the pandemic that could have caused the Covid pandemic,”
According to Johns Hopkins University, since its outbreak in Wuhan in late 2019 till 10th march 2023, the pandemic has infected 676,609,955 people and killed 6,881,955 people globally.
