16th Tibetan Parliament-in-exile commences its 2019-2020 budget session
DHARAMSALA, March 14: The Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile called on the legislators to keep the interests of the entire 6 million Tibetans in their mind.
“As we are the representatives of the people, for every undertaking that were are engaged with, we should keep in mind the interest of the 6 million Tibetans. That’s one of our foremost duty and it should not become a cause for them to be disappointed and disheartened at,” Speaker Pema Jungney said as he flagged off the budget session for the financial year 2019-2020 of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile today.
The speaker also appraised the legislators work report for the past six months since the last session of the house.
The legislators unanimously passed resolutions to mourn the demise of Katok Getse Rinpoche Gyurme Tenpa Gyaltsen, the 7th head of Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism, Tibetan self-immolator Dopo, former special envoy of the Dalai Lama Gyari Lodoe, India’s former defense minister George Fernandes and former US president Goerge Bush Senior.
The 7th session of the 16th Tibetan Parliament will be held over March 19- 29 to discuss and approve the budget of the Central Tibetan Administration for the year 2019-2020.
