Street in front of Chinese embassy in Washington might be renamed “Liu Xiaobo Plaza”

DHARAMSALA, June 25: In a strong and symbolic message to highlight Nobel Prize-winning Chinese dissident, Liu Xiaobo’s unjust imprisonment and underscore US commitment to safeguard human rights around the world, the House Appropriations Committee, on June 24 voted to rename the stretch of land that runs directly in front of the Chinese Embassy as “Liu Xiaobo Plaza”.

China releases Tibetan singer Gepey

DHARAMSALA, June 18: Chinese authorities in former Amdo Province of Tibet on June 13 released a popular Tibetan singer arrested last month for asserting Tibetan cultural and language rights in his songs and a Tibetan monk imprisoned for three years for raising slogans calling for the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet.
