COVID-19: TYC, MCD conducts sanitization drive in McLeod Ganj
DHARAMSALA, 6 May: Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) today carried out the sanitization of the entire McLeod Ganj Town along with the Municipal Corporation (MC), Dharamshala.
“As the entire world grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, I welcome and applaud the TYC who has partnered with the MC to carry out the sanitization of the Mcleod Ganj,” Onkar Singh Nehria, the mayor of the Dharamshala MC said.
As the drive started from the entrance of the Tsuglakhang, the mayor added that “may the pandemic ends as soon as possible with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Shiv Ji’s blessing and may we all be free from the pandemic.”
The mayor further thanked the police and the fire brigade for their assistance and services.
Gonpo Dhondup, the president of the TYC said that the TYC has decided to sanitize the town thrice a week and that today is the second day of the drive.
He further thanked the Mayor, MC, the police and the fire brigade for their supporting the sanitization drive and everyone who donated for the sanitization drive.
The president of the largest Tibetan NGO added that all its 88 regional chapters spread across the world also engaged in carrying out social services to fight the pandemic that the world continues to reel under.
Meanwhile, the Dharamsala chapter of the TYC today launched two helpline numbers- 06230385988(Sangye Dorjee) and 08009941869(Guru Drakoa) to deliver essential items to those in the environ of Dharamsala such as McLeod, Gangchen Kyishong and Norbu ling ka who are either under home isolation or quarantined or elders who are living alone.
The sanitization drive was carried days after Himachal recorded its highest daily Covid-19 cases on Tuesday.
