Former CTA staffs offer long life prayer to His Holiness
DHARAMSALA, 5 July: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama attended a long-life prayer offering (tenshug) organized by former Central Tibetan Administration staff today at Tsuglag-khang, the main temple in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala.
As many as 260 former CTA staff members have made the trip to the exile headquarter from across the world to offer the long life prayer for His Holiness the Dalai Lama which was attended by thousands of Tibetans and followers of the Buddhist faith including CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay and officials of the Tibetan government in exile who have gathered at the courtyard of Tsuglagkhang, to attend the long-life prayer offering.
The tenshug began with the offering of the mandala and the threefold representation of the Buddha’s body, speech and mind to the Dalai Lama by Lobsang Jinpa, the Chairman of the organising committee.
The Dalai Lama addressed the congregation and thanked the members of the participating groups for their unwavering dedication.
“Your faith, devotion and spiritual bond are strong. I thank you for praying that my life may be long,” the Tibetan spiritual leader said.
His Holiness also thanked the former CTA staffs for their contribution to the Tibetan cause during the early years of our exile that was a difficult time in our history.
“You did your best and worked hard for CTA during that difficult time in our history, you will be cared for by Avalokiteshvara in life after life,’
Though the Tibetan spiritual leader said that he is always determined to live long, he added that it’s hard to outlive Thangtong Gyalpo and Panchen Lobsang Chögyen who lived 125 years and 108 years respectively, he added that he could live into my 90s or to 100.
