Prayer service held to mark the 49th-day funeral ceremony of Lingtsa Tseten Dorjee’s late mother
DHARAMSALA, Oct 25: A prayer service was held today to mark the 49th day funeral ceremony (Shey Gu) of Mrs Dombo Kyi, the late mother of disappeared Tibetan writer and activist Lingtsa Tseten Dorjee and for all the Tibetan martyrs who have self-immolated for the cause of Tibet at Tsuglag-Khang, the main temple in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala.
The prayer service was jointly organized by the Regional and Central Domey Central Association and led by the Kyabje Dagri Rinpoche and Kirti Monastery’s abbot along with CTA’s President Dr Lobsang Sangay, Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, members of the Standing Committee of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile as well as representatives of various Dharamsala-based NGOs and local Tibetans.
Lingtsa Tseten Dorjee set out for his first peace march to Tibet in 2012 and was confined in a prison cell in Nepal. Later in 2013, he disappeared soon after embarking on his second peace march to Tibet. He was last understood to be setting off from Kalimpong towards Nepal before his disappearance.
President Sangay addressed the press briefly after the prayer service and expressed his deepest condolence to the families and well-wishers of the disappeared activist and his late mother.
Commenting on Lingtsa Tseten Dorjee’s disappearance since 2013, the political head of the Tibetan people stated that it is a clear case of enforced disappearance and further urged the Chinese regime to immediately release him.
