Second Permanent Strategy Committee meeting underway in Dharamsala
DHARAMSALA, 27 July: A three-day Permanent Strategy Committee meeting of the Central Tibetan Administration(CTA) began on Tuesday here “to review and discuss the progress of the ongoing strategic programs”.
This is the second meeting of the Permanent Strategy Committee since its establishment by the 16th Kashag(Cabinet) of the CTA led by President Penpa Tsering last year.
The meeting is being presided over by the CTA president Penpa Tsering and attended by all the committee members in person except for the committee’s advisor former Kalon Tempa Tsering who will virtually attend the meeting reports Tibet.net, the official webpage of the CTA.
Additionally, the report noted that Ngawa Tsegyam, the Secretary from the Gaden Phodrang office, is also attending the meeting on special invitation.
Apart from the CTA President, others on the committee include former envoy of His Holiness the Dalai Lama Kelsang Gyaltsen along with former CTA Minister Dongchung Ngodup as advisors and Secretary of the CTA’s Department of Security Karma Rinchen, Department of Information and International Relations Secretary Karma Choeying, Secretary Dawa Tsering of Tibet Policy Institute and Kashag’s Political Secretary Tashi Gyatso.
The three-day meeting underway from 27-29 July will also see the Committee “deliberate on future advocacy initiatives as per the objectives of the committee.”
In August 2021 the 16th Kashag dissolved the CTA’s Task Force on Sino-Tibetan negotiation and instead set up the Permanent Strategy Committee to replace it.
The committee held its first meeting from 16 -18 November last year.
