DHARAMSALA, July 25: Lhaksam Group, a Tibetan charity group has successfully concluded a two-day mega show in Ladakh to raise funds for old age Tibetans to attend Kalachakra initiation by His Holiness the Dalai Lama to be held in Bodh Gaya, Bihar.
Prashant Tamang of Indian idol fame; Miss Tibet 2016, Tenzin Sangnyi; Miss Tibet 2015, Pema Choedon; popular Tibetan transgender artist, Tenzin Mariko from Dharamsala and Tibetan singer Tashi Topden from Delhi performed at the show hosted on July 18 – 19.
The show was organized by Kalsang, Director of Lhaksam Group and the proceedings will be used to cover the expenses of 15 old age Tibetans along with 5 helpers from Ladakh Tibetan old age people’s home for their trip to 2017 Kalachakra initiation at Bodh Gaya from 3rd to 14th January, 2017.
“The funds we raised were not sufficient to cover the expenses, but our director has promised to arrange the remaining expenses on his own as many of these old people have never traveled outside Ladakh,” Tenzin Choedhar Gyalpo, a volunteer and an organizing member told Tibet Times.
“It’s a one-off show and we don’t plan on hosting such shows across other Tibetan settlements,” he added.
Kalsang, Director of the Lhaksam group has earlier served as body guard of His Holiness the Dalai Lama as well as His Holiness the Karmapa and hails from Ladakh Tibetan settlement.
