Tibetan student falls short of Sikyong scholarship despite scoring 94.2% in XII board exams

DHARAMSALA, May 24: The All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for class XII students announced its results on May 21, 2016.

Four Tibetan schools secured 100 percent pass percentage and the average pass percentage of all Tibetan schools stood at 90.07%. Out of the 17 Tibetan schools that appeared for the CBSE class XII board exam, TCV School Suja, TVC School Selakui, CTS Paonta and SOS TCV Bylakuppe have secured 100 percent pass percentage this year.

13296077_1174421962602212_835136822_nA total of 1359 Tibetan students appeared for the exam in March this year, out of which 1224 students passed the exam, 18 students failed and 115 students appeared under compartment category (failed in one subject).

The girls have continued to outshine boys in the board exam for the second year in a row. Ten students scored more than 90% and 342 students scored above 75%.

Although the number of students who have failed in the examination has decreased by 7 students, the number of compartment students has increased by 15 compared to last years’ result.

With the bench mark for the Sikyong Scholarship set at 95%, it will not be awarded to any student this year. The toppers of the 2016 Class XII AISSCE exam are as follows:


Science: Ms. Tenzin Tsomo (94.2%) TCV Selakui

Commerce: Ms. Tenzin Nordon (88%) Upper TCV

Arts: Mr. Tenzin Phuntosk (92.8%) THF, Mussoorie

Science Stream: Tenzin Tsomo (94.2%) from TCV Selakui, Tenzin Dechen (91%) from CST Kalimpong and Tsering Sonam (89.6%) from TCV Selakui

Commerce Stream: Tenzing Nordon (88%) from TCV Upper Dharamsala, Tenzin Namdol (83.6%) from CST Mundgod, Tenzin Yekha (82.4%) from TCV Upper Dharamsala and Thinley Wangmo (82.4%) from TCV Upper Dharamsala.

Arts Stream: Tenzin Phuntosk (92.8%) from THF, Mussoorie, Tenzin Bhuti (91.6%) and Tenzin Nordin (91.6%) from TCV Suja and Dawa Choedon (91 %), from CST Bylakuppe.
