Nyingma head Katok Getse Rinpoche passes away

 

MUNDGOD, Nov 21: The head of the Nyingma tradition of the Tibetan Buddhism has passed away.

His Holiness the Katok Getse Rinpoche Gyurme Tenpa Gyaltsen, the 7th head of Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism has reportedly passed away in Nepal.

Official statements about Rinpochey’s sudden demise at the age of 64 are awaited.

Kathok Getse Rinpoche is one of the five Golden Throne holders of the Kathok branch of the Nyingma tradition. Rinpoche was appointed as the head of the Nyingma tradition for three years at the Nyingma Mönlam in Bodhgaya in January 2018.

Kathok Getse Rinpoche was born in Golok, Eastern Tibet in 1954 and was recognized by the 16th Karmapa, Jamyang Khyentse Chokyi Lodro and Azom Gyalse Gyurme Dorje as the reincarnation of the Third Katok Getse, Gyurme Tenpa Namgyal.
