Himachal extends corona curfew till 26 May
DHARAMSALA, 15 May: As COVID-19 positive cases continue to rise in the state, the Himachal Pradesh government has extended the “Corona curfew” till 26 May.
The Himachal government Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has decided at a cabinet meeting held today to extend the present “ten-day Corona curfew” which ends on 16th May till 7 am of 26th May as the northern state continues to reel under the pandemic, Kangra TV reported.
Apart from allowing the hardware shops to open twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays, other restrictions in place under the present Corona curfew will remain the same, the report added.
Other issues that were reportedly discussed at the meeting included accessing the cases across the state, status of vaccination, and the Oxygen supply among others.
The state is currently on a strict “ten-day Corona curfew” till 6 am on 16th May. The corona curfew was announced on 7th May to “break the virus chain.”
Himachal is now being identified as a hotspot of the COVID-19 in India. The Hindustan Times reported that the positivity rate of Himachal has risen to 26 percent, surpassing the national positivity rate by some 6 per cent.
The 17th largest Indian state has recorded 3,044 fresh Covid-19 cases and 67 deaths, on Friday, media reports said citing official sources from the administration. The tally now stands(updated till 7 pm) at 39,623 active cases and 2,185 deaths to date.
