12 teams from India and Nepal compete in ‘Tibetan Basketball Tournament’ in Dharamsala
DHARAMSALA, Sep28: Twelve Tibetan teams from various areas in India and Nepal are participating in a basketball tournament being held at Gangchen Kyishong, Dharamsala.
The sporting event titled, ‘Tibetan Basketball Tournament – Defense Against TB’ is jointly organized by the Health Department of Central Tibetan Administration, Tibetan Youth Congress and Tibetan National Sports Association to raise awareness about tuberculosis and general health within the Tibetan community in exile.
The tournament kicked off on Sep 27 and the final match will be played on Oct 2, coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.
Three teams from Dharamsala, two teams from Bylakyppe and a team each from Nepal, Delhi, North East India, Ladakh, Dehradun, Mundgod and Bir are participating in the tournament.
