DHARAMSALA, 19 Dec: A coalition of five Tibetan NGOs in exile condemned China’s illegal gold mining project in Kashi Nomadic Village, located in the Kham Zachuka area of occupied Tibet. The project has reportedly led to the arbitrary detention and torture of more than 80 Tibetans, indigenous to the land, for appealing to authorities to halt mining operations they believe are destructive to the environment and threaten their identity as Tibetan nomads who have lived on the land since time immemorial.

DHARAMSALA, 9 Dec: Days ahead of the 2025 International Human Rights Day, the International Tibet Network (ITN), a coalition of 148 global Tibet related NGOs, has called on UN High Commissioner Volker Türk to “break his silence” on China’s colonial boarding schools for Tibetan children in occupied Tibet. The coalition argues that these institutions are designed to separate Tibetan children from their families and identities in order to assimilate them into the dominant Han culture.

DHARAMSALA, 5 Dec: The Tibetan Women’s Association (TWA) today commemorated the 30th anniversary of the ‘Silent Protest’ staged in Beijing by a delegation of exiled Tibetan women during the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995. The commemorative event was held at the Tibetan Settlement Hall in McLeod Ganj.

DHARAMSALA, 4 Dec: The Education Department of the Central Tibetan Administration, commonly referred to as the Tibetan Government-in-Exile, will use its corpus fund to provide scholarships for Tibetan students “next week,” as the USAID grant of 3 crore rupees for 400 students faces delays—possibly extending into next year—due to the recent US government shutdown.

DHARAMSALA, 3 Dec: Three candidates for the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile (TPIE) held a press conference today at the Dharamsala Tibetan Settlement Office Hall in McLeod Ganj, aiming to stimulate discourse within the Tibetan democratic polity. The candidates expressed serious concern that the exile community has remained largely indifferent and silent since the official start of the election process two months ago.

DHARAMSALA, 2 Dec: Khedroob Thondup, the Dalai Lama’s nephew and the son of the late Gyalo Thondup, has announced a decisive break from the Middle Way Approach- the official policy of the Central Tibetan Administration and the approach that he “once supported,” declaring that he will now “only accept complete independence for Tibet” from China’s colonial rule.
