Corona curfew further extended till 31 May in Himachal

DHARAMSALA, 25 May: The Himachal Pradesh government has announced the further extension of the “Corona curfew” across the state till 31 May. 

After considering the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and fatalities across the state, the Himachal Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has decided to extend the current “Corona curfew” which ends on 26 May till 6 am of 1 June.

Violating the curfew will attract legal actions, the administration has warned.

“Any person violating these curfew measures will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act-2005, section 188 of the IPC, Section 111 read with Section 114 & 115 of HP Police Act-2007 and other legal provisions as applicable.”

The daily relaxation hours from curfew across the state is three hours but the timing of which differs from district to district as it was left for the deputy commissioners of the respective districts to decide on.

The relaxation hour for the general public in Kangra is from 8 A.M to 11 A.M to step out of their home to access essential services.

The development came at a time when the Covid positivity rate in the state has declined but the mortality rate of the pandemic has slightly increased.

“Over the past week, the Covid positivity rate in Himachal Pradesh has declined from 29 per cent to 19.5 per cent compared to the week before (May 10-16),” The Indian Express reported citing a state health official.

 The 17th largest Indian state has recorded 1,941 fresh Covid-19 cases, 3,686 recoveries, and 61 deaths on Monday.

Himachal now joins several other states and union territories of India like Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Puducherry who have all decided to continue with their lockdown restrictions until the end of May.
