CTA Condemns Australian-based Tibetan’s Online Threats Against Dalai Lama, Pledges Action.

DHARAMSALA, 24 Sept: The Department of Information and International Relations, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), held a press conference today at Lhakpa Tsering Hall at the Central Tibetan Secretariat to address the alarming defamation and death threats made against the Dalai Lama.

The threats, issued by Senge, a Tibetan living in Australia, have sparked widespread outrage and concern within the Tibetan community and beyond. The CTA press conference aims to condemn these malicious actions, seek justice, and rally international support for the Dalai Lama’s safety and security. Officials from the Crisis Management Committee of the CTA addressed the media, shedding light on the gravity of the situation and the administration’s response to these disturbing threats.

The press release states that Senge’s act of spreading various disruptive rumours about Tibetan society and his exceptionally perilous statements related to the safety of His Holiness the Dalai Lama have caused great concern among Tibetans and his unwavering followers worldwide who look up to His Holiness with hope, respect, and admiration.

The committee states in the press release that Senge, who uses the online name “Snow Lion,” is a former monk named Lobsang Gyatso. Following his arrival in India in 2000, he immigrated to Australia in 2007 under the CTA’s resettlement program for former Tibetan political prisoners.

“For several years, he has been defaming the Dalai Lama and the CTA. Despite attempts by relatives and close associates to correct his misguided views, he remained unaffected,” it added.

The committee said that regardless of any political allegiance, such speech and behaviour clearly demonstrate severe misguidance. “It incites and threatens criminal illegal acts.”

The committee further pledged to take swift and decisive action in response to the malicious activities, reaffirming its commitment to combating such threats head-on, wherever they may arise, and concluded by urging the public not to view or listen to such baseless rumours, in order to prevent such people from achieving their goal of creating disturbances in society through provocative gossip.
