Dalai Lama and President of CTA congratulate France’s youngest President-Elect

DHARAMSALA, May 8: Emmanuel Macron has become the youngest French President ever after battering his opponent, Marine Le Pen with a huge margin of over 20 percentage of the total votes.
Macron, the 39-year-old President-elect of France vowed to defend Europe minutes after his historical victory, much to the relief of European nations as his opponent, Marine Le Pen, a far-right nationalist has threatened to take France out of the European Union.
France being one of Tibet’s strongest supporters in Europe, the Tibetan leaders, both spiritual and political were quick to congratulate the young French President.
“I very much appreciate the sentiments you expressed at that time,” the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama wrote in a missive to Macron, reflecting on the conversation he had with the President-elect during their meeting in Paris last September, the official website of the Tibetan spiritual leader, dalailama.com reported.
“Since France is one of the pillars of the European Union, I am confident that you will be able to play an active role in its successfully meeting the challenges that lie ahead,” the Tibetan spiritual leader added.
The Tibetan Nobel Peace laureate and recipient of the Honorary citizenship of Paris concluded his missive by offering his prayers and good wishes to the young French President.
“I, on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration, heartily congratulate you for winning the French presidential election,” Tibet.net, the official website the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) quoted CTA’s President Dr Lobsang Sangay as saying in its report.
Dr Sangay further called the victory of Emmanuel Macron, a reflection of the French people’s deep rooted faith in the spirit of reconciliation and integration that the President-Elect advocated during his campaign.
“As France’s youngest president, we are also hopeful of the fresh impetus that you will inject in global politics and the culture of democratic patriotism,” the President of CTA concluded.
Emmanuel Macron is the youngest leader of France since Napoleon and the country’s youngest president of all time.
