Dalai Lama to release album of mantras and teachings set to music on his 85th birthday
DHARAMSALA, 10 June: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama will release an album of mantras set to music to next month.
‘Inner World,’ the first foray into the world of recorded music will be released on 6th July to mark his 85th birthday, reports The Guardian.
The album consists of 11 tracks that will see the Dalai Lama recite sacred mantras and give teachings with the background music tracks performed on more than 30 instruments, the report added.
Compassion, a track released in advance on Tuesday, is a version of one of the most famous Buddhist prayers(The Mani mantra, a six-syllable mantra of Avalokiteshvara).
“Music has the potential to reach many more people with the message that the real source of happiness is warm-heartedness and a concern for others,” the Dalai Lama was quoted as saying in the report.
“The very purpose of my life is to serve as much as I can.”
Inner world, a sacred offering from the Dalai Lama of mantras and teachings set to music was completed after five years.
