Uttrakhand girl crowned Miss Himalaya Pageant 2015
DHARAMSALA, Oct 5: Tanshuman Gurung from Uttarakhand was announced the winner of Miss Himalaya Pageant-2015 at the grand finale held on Oct 4.
Six girls from the Himalayan region participated in the two-day contest held over Oct 3-4 at Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts in Dharamsala. After five rounds of competition, Tanshuman Gurung from Uttarakhand was declared the winner of Miss Himalaya Pageant-2015 to thunderous applause from the audience.
Tenzin Sangnyi, the only Tibetan girl in the contest was announced the first runners up and the second runners up went to Chum Darang from Arunachal Pradesh.
On top of the prized Miss Himalaya crown, the winner Tanshuman Gurung also received a cash prize of one lakh rupees. The first and the second runners up were awarded fifty thousand and twenty five thousand rupees respectively.
Lobsang Wangyal, Director cum Producer of the event says the annual event, first held in 2012, is aimed to provide a platform for young women from the entire Himalayan region ‘to promote its culture, preserve its environment, and foster understanding and friendship among the Himalayan.
