DHARAMSALA, 13 Sept: An art exhibition celebrating the creativity of Tibetan students from five different schools in Himachal Pradesh opened today at the Kangra Art Museum in Kotwali Bazar near here on Friday.
Curated by Khadok Arts in collaboration with the Kangra Art Museum and The Tibet Fund, the primary objective of the exhibition is to instil a sense of belonging among the Tibetan students about their homeland, as the artworks are based on the theme “If I were in Tibet”.
Herman Bairwa, the Deputy Commissioner of Kangra, inaugurated the week-long exhibition, which is open to the public from 10 am to 5 pm. The event also attracted an audience of local residents along with foreign tourists.
KHADHOK, a collective of Tibetan artists, has conducted workshops for students from classes 6 to 12 in five different schools in Himachal Pradesh, namely Upper TCV, Mewoen Petoen School, TCV Suja, TCV Chauntra, and TCV Gopalpur.
A total of 180 students participated in the workshops and created artwork based on the theme. The 50 artworks on display at the exhibition were selected from the lot by a jury of reputed Indian and Tibetan artists.
The highlight of the exhibition was the presence of these young, budding Tibetan artists who excitedly explained their inspiration behind the showcased artworks.
The student’s artwork on display was truly exceptional, with several pieces evoking strong emotions in viewers. It was remarkable to see how they had successfully transformed their vision onto the canvas, showcasing a level of skill and creativity that exceeded the expectations for their age group.
The exhibition served as a powerful reminder of the importance of nurturing young minds and providing opportunities for students to express themselves through art.
