DHARAMSALA, 2 May: Rignor Labs, a Bangalore-based software firm founded by Lobsang Tashi and Tashi Choetso on 3 January 2021, marks five years since its establishment. It specialises in AI, web, and mobile solutions for businesses and organisations worldwide, with distinct expertise in Tibetan language and cultural technologies alongside its mainstream services.

The founder of Rignor Labs, Lobsang Tashi, says their mission has always been innovation deeply rooted in tradition, balancing their aim to support Tibetans with technology that serves humanity, while also sustaining their commercial and revenue model, often offering services either free of charge or at minimal cost.

The Tibetan-founded technology company, despite its relatively recent emergence, has managed to earn various accolades under its belt, completing more than 50 projects across eight countries, currently supporting more than 2,500 active users globally, and has built a 23-client portfolio spanning education, healthcare, hospitality, and cultural institutions, while contributing more than 100 hours of pro bono engineering each year to community organisations.

Various reputable Tibetan institutions have been supported by Rignor Labs. Among them is Sera Jey Online School, a digital learning service providing courses to more than 1,500 students across 16 countries, with courses and an interface available in Tibetan, English, and several other languages. Rignor Labs also supports the Sera Jey Modern Education Department, providing the digital infrastructure behind the monastic university’s modern curriculum.

The Dalai Lama Institute of Higher Education, along with the Sakya Sachen Foundation Prayer Book App, is also backed by the firm, cementing its position as an indispensable service provider in the growing landscape of Tibetan-led organisations and institutions.

The company also launched an internship programme for Tibetan students as it approached its five-year milestone, built on the recognition that despite the inherent talent of many Tibetans, they often lack hands-on exposure. Interns will work alongside the firm’s engineers, designers, and data scientists, receiving direct mentorship.

Tashi Choetso, co-founder and data scientist at Rignor Labs, says, “We wanted to create the kind of opportunity many of us did not have when we were starting out.”

He went on to say that, beyond just a certificate, interns leave with shipped work, professional references, and the confidence to compete in the global corporate landscape. The programme is open to undergraduate and postgraduate Tibetan students from institutions worldwide, helping them transition smoothly from academic learning to applied, corporate-ready skills.
