Dalai Lama Condoles the Nepal Earthquake Victims

DHARAMSALA, 7 November: The Tibetan spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, expressed his heartfelt condolences and extended prayers to those affected by the recent 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Western Nepal late last Friday.

In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the Tibetan Nobel Peace Laureate conveyed his sympathy, saying, “I offer my condolences to the families of those who have lost loved ones and pray for all those affected by this tragedy.”

“I understand that everything is being done by your government, as well as related agencies, to provide necessary help and support to the people affected by this calamity. As a token of my solidarity with the people of Nepal, I hope to be able to make a donation towards the rescue and relief efforts”, he added. 

The epicentre of Friday’s earthquake was at Ramidanda in Jajarkot district, with its tremors felt in New Delhi and some parts of north India. Another quake of 5.6-magnitude hit Jajarkot on Monday, the second in just three days, reported Indian Express. 

At least 153 people lost their lives from the earthquake according to the report with several thousand houses damaged.
