His Holiness assures public of his good health after returning from Baltic States

DHARAMSALA, June 21: His Holiness the Dalai Lama has assured the public of his good health after arriving at Gaggal airport on Wednesday afternoon after successfully concluding his hectic 11-day teaching tour in the Baltic States.

“Normal, of course, a little bit tired, but otherwise normal,” the 82-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader remarked when enquired by the reporters at the Gagal airport near Dharamsala.

The Tibetan spiritual leader was received by the Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Home Kalon Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang along with the representatives of various Tibetan NGOs at the airport.

The itinerary of the Dalai Lama’s hectic 11-day tour in the Baltic States includes series of religious teachings and engagements as follows.

On June 13, His Holiness the Dalai Lama gave a talk on Human Values in Education in the morning organized by the University of Vilnius at the University of Vilnius in Lithuania

On June 14, His Holiness gave a public talk on The Art of Happiness in the morning organized by House of Tibet (Vilnius) at the Siemens Arena in Lithuania

On the mornings of June 16 and 17, His Holiness taught on Tsongkhapa’s In Praise of Dependent Origination (tendrel toepa) and Diamond Cutter Sutra (dorjee chodpa) in Riga, Latvia. On June 18 morning, His Holiness bestowed a Manjushree Empowerment (jamphelyang jenang). The teachings are organized by Save Tibet Latvia, Save Tibet Foundation (Moscow) and Tibet Culture and Information Center (Moscow) and the venue will be Skonto Hall.

Off late, much to the concern of Tibetans and the followers of the Dalai Lama, his health became a subject of talking point after some media reports speculated that the Dalai Lamas is terminally ill.

The speculation was quickly put to rest by the Tibetan Nobel laureate’s, personal physician, secretary and the spokesperson of the Central Tibetan Administration.

Dr Tsetan Dorjee, the personal physician to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, in particular, refuted the news reports as fake.

“This is fake news,” Dr Tsetan Dorjee told The New Indian Express and later in a video message he further assured the public that His Holiness is in good health.

His Holiness is keeping very well, there is nothing to worry about,” Dr Tsetan Dorjee said in the video message.
