New Chief Election Commissioner and Member of Public Service Commission Of CTA Sworn In

DHARAMSALA, 8 Oct: Ushering in new leadership to key institutions of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), Lobsang Yeshi and Tsultrim Dorjee were sworn in as the new Commissioner of the Tibetan Election Commission and a member of the Public Service Commission, respectively.
The Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel administered the oath of office for Lobsang Yeshi and Tsultrim Dorjee in accordance with the Charter of the Tibetans in Exile on Monday following their election by the Tibetan Parliament during the general session of the house in September.
Lobsang Yeshi, a former parliamentarian, secured the position of Commissioner of the Tibetan Election Commission with 29 votes, while Tsultrim Dorjee, Director of Tibetan Children Village, garnered 24 votes to become a member of the Public Service Commission.
The brief swear-in ceremony of the CTA’s Chief Election Commissioner and the member of the Public Service Commission held at the parliament Secretariat was attended by officiating CTA President Kalon (Minister) Tharlam Dolma Changra, Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, and standing committee members of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
Lobsang Yeshi is a seasoned Tibetan leader and educator. He holds a B.A./B.Ed. from Punjab University. Yeshi’s experience spans teaching, research, and leadership roles in various organisations, including the CST Paonta Sahib School, Sera Jey Secondary School, Tibetan Youth Congress and CHOICE HIV/AIDS Initiative.
A two-term parliamentarian (2011-2021), Yeshi served on key committees. He also served as a Tibetan Settlement Officer for Lugsam Tibetan Settlement in Bylakuppe for a year. He is now the Commissioner of the Tibetan Election Commission.
Tsultrim Dorjee, a Tibetan exile, pursued education in India after arriving in 1980. He completed his schooling at Upper Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV) in 1992 and later earned a B.Com from St. Xavier’s College in 1994, followed by a B.Ed. Dorjee’s educational career spans over two decades, serving as a high school social studies teacher, headmaster, and director at various TCV institutions. Notably, he was the Director of TCV Gopalpur from 2012 to 2017 and has since led Upper TCV as its Director.
