No country has done more for Tibetans than India: Sikyong Sangay
DHARAMSALA, Jan 26: No country has done more for the Tibetans than India, said the Tibetan political leader Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay at a ceremony held today morning at the Kashag Secretariat to mark the 67th anniversary of India’s Republic Day.
Members of the Kashag, Secretaries and senior officials of the Central Tibetan Administration attended the brief ceremony.
Extending best wishes on behalf of all the Tibetans, Sikyong Sangay also expressed gratitude to the state government of Himachal Pradesh and the central government of India for providing continued support to the Tibetan people and for hosting Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Sikyong Sangay also stated that India’s Mahatma Gandhi-led non-violent freedom movement, which has proved that war and violence is not necessary to achieve freedom and independence, is a great example from which Tibetans from both inside and outside Tibet draw inspiration for their non-violent freedom struggle.
