Second Parents’ Conference of Tibetan School begins today
DHARAMSALA, Feb 28: The Second Parents’ Conference of Tibetan School organised by the Central Tibetan Administration’s (CTA) Department of the Education began today at T-building, the new auditorium of the CTA at its headquarters in Dharamsala.
President of the Central Tibetan Administration Dr Lobsang Sangay, Education Kalon Dr Pema Yangchen and Education Secretary Karma Singey attended the conference along with Directors and Principals of Tibetan education institutes and as many as 131 parents and representatives from parent’s association of Tibetan schools from India and abroad.
Education Secretary Karma Singey welcomed greeted the congregation and read out the resolutions from the first conference that have been successfully implemented.
The secretary further appraised about the benefits of the parent’s association that have been set up the need for it and about the importance of active participation after once it has been set up in his opening address.
Education Kalon Dr Pema Yangchen spoke about the importance of parent’s association at large and on the importance of healthy partnership and rapport between parents and teacher for the proper growth of children and for them to excel in academic as well.
President Sangay in his address spoke about facilities provided by the Kashag(cabinets), education department’s expenses and scholarships it offers and further announced his plans in the future to provide financial assistance for educational purposes similar to its ongoing Summer Livelihood Support Programme.
Education department’s two-day conference is being funded by Danida (Denmark), Fonds De Dotation (France) and Sonam Frasi (UK). The inaugural Parents’ Conference of Tibetan School was held in 2015.
