TPI’s 8th Young Tibetan Research Scholars’ Conference underway
DHARAMSALA. 24 Aug: The 8th Young Tibetan Research Scholars’ Conference is underway at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies(CHTS), Sarah.
Ju Tenkyong, Director of Amnye Machen Institute inaugurated the three-day conference on Tuesday. The inaugural session was attended by Central Tibetan Administration’s Department of Information and International Relations Secretary Karma Choeying, Principal of CHTS, Sarah Pasang Tsering as well as the Tibet Policy Institute’s Deputy Director Kunga Gyaltsen, Researcher and Joint Secretary Tenzin Dedan.
Tenkyong in his address expressed his admiration for the modern research methodology being employed by the researchers but called for its integration with the age-old traditional Tibetan mechanisms.
Additionally, he urged the researchers to adopt an open mind and respect for each other while deliberating and discussing besides being free of any preconceptions.
The three-day conference being held from 23- 25 Aug. is organised by the Tibet Policy Institute (TPI), a research centre of the CTA.
The conference will see 47 participants from across the world including keynote speakers, Postgraduates and PhD scholars discuss and deliberate on their research papers which are related to Tibet Tibetan Buddhism, historical narratives, environment, and Tibetan medicines among others.
